Waxing FAQs

How can I prepare for my wax appointment?

We recommend exfoliating the area a few days prior to your appointment. Avoiding caffeine and alcohol 24 hours before will also help to minimize any redness or irritation that may occur. You may also take ibuprofen 30-45 min before your appointment to help with any inflammation and reduce pain.

Is it ok to tweeze my eyebrows in between waxes?

No. For the best results, please allow your brows to grow between waxing. This ensures your hair is all on the same growth cycle and will give your brows a cleaner appearance.

How long should my hair be before body waxing?

Your hair should be at least a 1/4-1/2 inch to ensure the hair is long enough for the wax to grab it. If you have been shaving, a minimum of 2 weeks worth of growth is about 1/4 inch.

Can I receive a Brazilian wax service while on my period?

It is up to each individual service provider. However, it may hurt more a week before and during your cycle. If it is your first time receiving a Brazilian wax we recommend that you wait until you are not on your cycle so that you will be less sensitive. Please be considerate and use appropriate feminine hygiene products,  such as a tampon or menstrual cup.

Can I get waxed during my pregnancy?

Brazilian and bikini waxing during your pregnancy is perfectly normal and not harmful to you or your baby at all. Our waxing specialists will ensure you have the best waxing experience possible. Your skin may be a little more sensitive and tender during your pregnancy due to more blood flow to the area. We suggest asking your Dr. for any other concerns.

How long will the area be red?

The skin may stay red and tender anywhere from 1 to 24 hours depending on your skin’s sensitivity. We suggest avoiding caffeine and alcohol 24 hours prior to your appointment to help reduce any redness or irritation. You may also take ibuprofen 30-45 min before your appointment to help with any inflammation. We use lavender oil post waxing to remove any wax residue and to help calm the skin.

How long will my waxing results last?

If you are a first-time or occasional waxer you will likely notice some new hair growth within 1-2 weeks, depending on your hair growth rate. It may take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on the same growth cycle. Please avoid shaving in between appointments.
Since the hair is being removed from the root, your waxing results will last longer than shaving. When your hair grows back from waxing it will be weaker, making it finer and softer. For optimal results we recommend waxing every 4 weeks.

Can I be waxed if I am taking Retin A, Renova, or Accutane?

These medications can thin the skin which can lead to lifting, or removal of the skin, during waxing. Please let your technician know before your service begins of any oral or topical medications you are taking. Also be aware that chemical peels, laser treatments, and microdermabrasion affect the integrity of the skin.

What can I do for aftercare?

After your waxing service you should avoid the gym, tanning, swimming pools, hot tubs and saunas for 24 hours after waxing. Sexual contact should also be avoided for 24 hours. Wearing loose clothing/underwear the day of your appointment will help minimize any potential discomfort/irritation.
Exfoliating and moisturizing play a big role in lasting results and reducing ingrown hairs and bumpy irritation. We recommend waiting 3 days after your service before exfoliating to allow the follicles and pores to tighten back to normal.  You should exfoliate every 2-3 days, but moisturize daily to keep the skin hydrated and help prevent ingrown hairs. It doesn’t need to be hard scrubbing, just gentle exfoliation.
